In 2020 year SibWoodExpo exhibition will be held in Bratsk. Bratsk city is the center of the logging industry of the Irkutsk region. There is the only timber industry faculty in the Irkutsk Region, which is part of the Bratsk State University. This faculty trains personnel for timber enterprises not only in our region, but also for other regions of Russia. Largest logging and woodworking companies are located there. These largest logging and woodworking companies are interested in receiving additional investments and introducing new technologies and equipment at their enterprises.
Irkutsk Region is the leader among Russian regions in terms of timber harvesting. Annually more than 35 million м3 of wood is harvested in the forests of Irkutsk Region. The reserve of forest resources allows to occupy leading positions not only in the Siberian Federal District, but also in the whole Russia. More than 10% of the country’s forests are concentrated here, and the share of especially valuable coniferous species such as pine and cedar is significant even on a global scale.
